What up, Tribe?! Welcome back to another amazing episode of The Sophisticatedly Ratchet Podcast, giving the real in a world of fake.
In today's episode, Shake leads the team in moderation, and we discuss our views on food and the pros and cons of eating healthy. By definition, a healthy diet is a diet that helps maintain or improve overall health, but here at the SR podcast, we see it differently. We each have different relationships with food, but we all agree good food is magical! It has the power to trigger memories and emotions, reminding us of holiday meals and good times spent with great people.
However, on the flipside - abusing food is a slippery slope because a lot of health-related issues stem from poor food choices. University of Alabama researcher's found data that confirmed southern diets are to be blamed for high rates of hypertension among Black Americans. Approximately 75 percent of black men and women develop high blood pressure by their mid-50s, compared with 55 percent of white men and 40 percent of white women of the same age. What it really came down to was the fact that while people of both races ate some amount of Southern-fried comfort food, African-Americans, on average, are eating much more of it — with the highest consumers eating something fried, overly salted, or doused in fatty dairy every day.
You ever wonder why it is so hard to make healthy food choices, why it is difficult for people to develop healthy eating habits or if you should judge people for eating fast food? Let’s talk this one out, pull up, tune in and join the “Healthy Eating” discussion.
